bigbrotherBig Brother Africa (BBA) is entertaining television. Followers of the series are as engrossed in it as the participants in the House themselves are serious about the affairs of the House.

It provides fascinating insight into how young people relate in such close proximity to each other. Question: How will much older people – say from age 45 to 65 – relate in such an environment as the BBA House. The promoters of the series may consider that as a future project.

Two things reign supreme in these Big Brother Houses peopled by younger individuals: testosterone and oestrogen! Trapped as these hormones are in the House, the outcome is inevitable.

The sex oozes from all pores. It cannot be mere good old fashioned promiscuity or even biblical temptation.

It is just there for the taking and these young Housemates go after it with all their energies blazing! Would the 45-65 year bracket have the same inclinations, energies and bravado to behave in similar circumstances?

Since the series started a few years ago, sex has been an important component of the House chores – though perhaps unintended by the producers.

In trying to “bond”, they have always found the “bedmatics” even more congenial. They forget the cameras are on them and express their sexuality freely.

One thing that may amuse the producers is the bathroom sessions of the original episodes.

These were extremely popular with male viewers (at least in Ghana) who would stay up late or wake up early to participate in that ritual.

It is not clear why the bathroom sessions have been dropped, but as a result, the show is missing out on many pairs of eyes! Sex.

Unsurprisingly therefore, BBA Amplified is pouring out its own testosterone and oestrogen. This is how a report from Multichoice matter-of-factly reported a recent episode: “The day after Ernest and Bhoke finally made love…”

Two couples that met in the Big Brother House and pursued a romance outside are All Stars Meryl and Mwisho who got engaged in the House, and the Revolution's Kevin and Liz who didn't date in the House, but got married in 2010.

They have both alluded, on separate occasions, to have met each other before moving into the House.

Now it seems other housemates in Amplified are following in those footsteps: Ernest and Bhoke.

Their affair was openly sizzling and the day after they finally made love they were evicted together.

The big question is, was it all real, or was it just another amplified strategy…

The two were the longest surviving couple in the House and it took an eviction to separate them. But, only momentarily, as Bhoke was evicted first the Tailsmates thought that was it, then IK announced that Ernest was also leaving...But at least, they made love!
